Honda is recalling certain 2009 through 2011 model year North American Pilot SUVs for a seat belt related issue. An inspection of 310,773 models is taking place due to improperly installed or not installed-at-all seat belt stitching. If affected, the belts could fail in a crash due to missing webbing that connects the lap belt to outboard anchor.
Written notifications to owners will be delievered early October. Honda is issuing the voluntary recall to encourage Pilot owners to take their vehicles to authorized dealers so the issue can be remedied as soon as possible. The company says that the only way to determine if the seat belts are flawed is through a inspection by a Honda dealer. These check-ups and potentially fixes will take place at no charge to the owner.
