American Honda’s most robust state and arguably their home is Ohio. Numerous Honda parts and North American exclusive vehicles are manufactured in various plants across the state and a recent stream of investments has strengthened Honda’s standings for the future. The most recent comes by way of a $50 million expansion to increase capacity of aluminum casted transmissions. The Russells Point plant will receive a 75,000 foot expansion to accommodate an all-new, third transmission assembly line. In total, 100 jobs will be added to the Ohio plant by the end of 2013.

“This latest investment in Ohio is another example of how we intend to meet the needs of our global customers by implementing advanced technologies in our production operations and in our products,” said Honda Transmission President Yuji Takahashi. “It also demonstrates our commitment to Honda’s Ohio production operations to reduce the environmental impact of our facilities while positioning this facility to compete at the highest levels on a global basis.”

Honda has been operating in Ohio since 1982 and has produced more than 14 million vehicles since then. This most recent investment adds up to a total of more than $400 million put into the Ohio plants since 2010. The zero-waste-to landfill plants employee around 13,400 Ohioans currently and receives help from hundreds more out-of-state.
