Chrysler Group has reduced price of its Dodge Viper sports car to $84,995, representing a decrease of $15,000 from the sticker price of $99,995.
The 2015 Viper, after adjusting for inflation, is now priced comparably to the first-generation Viper.
According to Chrysler, Viper had a starting price of $50,700 when it was introduced in 1992, and, adjusted for inflation, the equivalent in today’s dollars would be $86,130, the newspaper said.
Current-model Viper owners will get a voucher worth $15,000 to be redeemed toward the purchase of a new Viper. That will be in addition to the $15,000 price reduction.
In addition, Chrysler said that existing 2014 model-year dealer inventory will be reduced by $15,000, effective immediately.
The 2015 Viper will arrive in dealer showrooms in the first quarter of next year.
