General Motors will be partnering with LG Group to develop electric vehicles. Engineers will be working together to electric vehicle platforms and components.
The two companies have a history of working together. LG currently supplies the battery pack for the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid and helped develop a fleet of electric Chevrolet Cruzes for the G20 summit meeting last year.
The new government fuel regulations seem to be pushing automakers towards collaborating with companies to strengthen their green car line-ups. The GM/LG partnership is the second collaboration the auto industry has seen this week. Similar moves can be expected in the future as the new fuel standards take effect.
