General Motors issued five new recalls affecting more than 2.7 million U.S. vehicles, Detroit Free Press reports.
The new recall will affect more than 2.7 million U.S. vehicles. According to the automaker, the new recalls would cost $200 million on its second-quarter earnings report. The number of vehicles affected outside the U.S. was not immediately available.
In the first quarter, the automaker took a $1.3 billion charge for the cost of replacing defective ignition switches on 2.6 million small cars, mostly from the 2003 through 2007 model years. The new issues were collectively blamed for as many as 17 crashes and no deaths.
The issue affects 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6 and 2007-2010 Saturn Auras.
