We already talked about Volvo’s cool XC90 self-driving tech that we found at the Connected Car Expo on the first day of the auto show, so we were excited to see what else could be found at the main Volvo booth for the auto show proper.
That excitement quickly waned, as we discovered Volvo was showing off very little aside from more information about the new self-driving concept. In fact, rather than unveiling a new car, Volvo merely showed off a new interior concept with a trick rotating dash that would transform the interior for use during the self-driving/autopilot mode. Basically, the passenger side of the dash rotates up to be a huge LCD display so you can access entertainment and productivity functions when the car is driving itself.
Other pieces in the booth include new safety tech for car seats, and a look at some of Volvo’s hybrid and EV technology. Overall though it was a pretty minimal booth display.
