what to do when you crash your car and at fault and have no insurance?

was in an accident the other week. comprehensive insurance ran out and i went up the back of another car that then went into another car. my fault completely. never been in the situation before didnt really take too much notice of the damage to their cars and the first car ( not the one i directly hit) has come back and told me their is about $3000 of damages and keeps asking fora insurance claim number. have yet to hear back from the people i directly hit. any info on what to do would be great as i am extremley worried that i cant pay it. i would of thought the damage to their cars would of totalled $2000 at the most but and freaking out here.......thanks ( in australia NSW by the way)

I don't know Aussie laws, but in the US, I would tell you that if you own a house or anything else of substantial value, sell it immewdiately (on paper, to someone you trust, but it is still yours, know what I mean?) and get a lawyer because you are about to get your *ss sued off.
