China's Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) is experimenting with hybrid and fully electric powertrains in its Roewe 750 sedan. Not surprisingly, SAIC is working with corporate partner General Motors on the hybrid system, which is very closely related to GM's own mild hybrid system and is supplied by American auto parts supplier Delphi. SAIC expect the hybrid Roewe 750 to boast fuel economy and emissions improvements of around 20 percent over the standard model.

On display at the Shanghai Motor Show is a fully electric Roewe 750. Details are scarce, but our Chinese colleagues report a top speed of a little over 90 miles per hour (150 kph) and a range of 124 miles (200 kilometers) after a charge of 6-8 hours.
