Owning a Ferrari dealership?

I am currently a college student studying business management and i want to own my own luxury brand car dealership someday. Preferably Ferrari and i want to know how people get there and what i need to to to get there someday after schooling.

I once was told by a saleman friend that you are not just handed a dealership just because you have the money.

You have to work your way up (like owning a used car dealership, then a smaller less prestigeous dealership, etc., etc.)

It is like the same thing as MacDonald franchise. Even if you have the money, MacDonald won't sell you a franchise even if you have the money. They will only accept you if you have "hamburger experience" (their phrase).
