Is it just the car battery?

My car is completely dead, I have jump started it without running it for too long and then the next time I started it it was dead again. the lights come on though. why is the battery dead and what do I need to do (dont want to take it to the garage!) Shall I jump it again and run it for half an hour to charge it?

Yeah maybe you can check out the battery... Maybe it was discharged or something...
