Does Islam and Judaism have the equivalent of counter-part to Bishop John Shelby

Spong? Bishop John Shelby Spong is a retired Episcopal (Anglican) Bishop from New Jersey. He is one of the most liberally minded and controversial Bishops in the world. His work is very challenging, and he offers many new approaches to Christian theology. To some he is a heretic, to others he is inspiring and a breath of breath of fresh air.

You forgot about the Archbishop of Canterbury. I'm not Christian, but I love that guy.
Islam has a number of Muslims trying to get the fanatics to see sense. e.g me.
I'm not sure about Judaism though. Most Jews I know are very nice, but idk about the fundies.
