hey hi,
According to me, the biggest difference is "warranty". if you buy from a dealer, you have recourse if they sell you something that isn't as advertised. a private party is pretty much "as is" and good luck if they sell you a lemon. the taxes, plates etc. you pay regardless....

I have bought used cars from Angelo's Wheels, Rochester NY Cargo Van Dealer. First i had checked their website the-van-man.com//newandusedcars.aspx where i saw some of the cargo vans.

I always inspect the dealer before buying any vehicle.
