Dodge or Chevrolet? This age-old question has turned into a very heated debate among the automotive world and has spawned a rivalry that looks to never end. These two heavy-weight all-American manufactures have created such loyal followings that owners purposely seek out arguments as to which is better. Any fan of the Big Three will root for the American manufactures but it seems that when push comes to shove, everyone has their following. And when it comes to the debate as to which manufacture builds a better full size pickup, Dodge or Chevrolet, the end appears to be no where in sight.
The original poster in this Forum Friday’s thread simply asks the question, which truck is going to make a better long-term vehicle: the Dodge Ram or Chevrolet Silverado? They admit to being a fan of the Ram but wants to consider the Chevy due to its long reputation for quality. If a person was to base their decision solely on the responses in the thread, the Silverado would appear to come out on top.
When on paper, these two trucks are quite similar. The Silverado has a one up on interior fit and finish as well as overall quality. The Ram (in light duty trim) has the power with its 390 horsepower Hemi V8 to overtake the Chevrolet. But as we tested not too long ago, the Ram’s automatic transmission is nowhere near the same level of the automatics being produced by Chevrolet at the moment. We could continue to attempt to solve this question with facts and figures, but in all honesty it wouldn’t matter. Deep down, everyone already knows where their hearts fall to which means that the battle between the Chevrolet and Dodge trucks will forever rage on.
