There seems to be a split within the automotive community that has been going on for years. Even though most car people will agree to loving all things mechanical, it would appear that everyone has a specific segment that they find most appealing. This has caused a split between truck and car enthusiasts and has created one interesting question: what would you rather drive, a fast car or a nice SUV/truck?

The original poster in this thread raises the question, “If gas was not a problem, would you rather drive a nice SUV or Fast car?” The majority of the replies make it appear that the even though a fast car can deliver thrills and smiles, the versatility and safety of a SUV overpowers. One poster mentioned that they “love the versatility” of an SUV while one owner of a Chevrolet Tahoe mentioned that they live in the mountains and wouldn’t trade in their SUV for something that would simply get stuck.

This question comes to us at a very interesting time. Recently, the automotive industry posted the sales figures for the month of May and the SUV was one of the few segments to show an increase in sales over last year. Modern day SUVs are truly multi-purpose and there are so many variants, that any driver can find something that can suit their needs. There are even a select few (the SRT8 Grand Cherokee comes to mind) that can out perform a lot of “fast” cars.
