Constant weather changes made for an exciting Round 1 of Formula Drift at Long Beach, at times it was pouring rain, others it was perfectly dry. But what really made everything great was the drivers. I don’t know that I’ve watched a better round of Formula Drift. All 32 drivers brought their A-game and it showed.
The biggest surprise of all was watching Chelsea Denofa. The BMW driver is notorious for running into bouts of bad luck, but this round was his round. Denofa took out every big name favorite on the path to his first ever Formula D vicotry. Reigning champion Fredrick Aasbo just didn’t quite have enough to edge Chelsea out in the final battle for first place. Ken Gushi fought hard for his third place finish and defeated Odi Bakcihs who took fourth place.
All in all, if you didn’t watch this event, you missed out on a great show. Keep your eyes locked on AutoTalk.com for Round 2 at Road Atlanta. We will be there to cover the action live, and with the action already on fire, we can expect a great show on May 7th.
