Ford Motor said its commercial vehicle making partner in China, Jiangling Motors Corp., has opened a $300 million assembly plant in China, reports Bloomberg News.
The JMC Xiaolan plant adds 300,000 vehicles in annual capacity to the existing 245,000 units, Ford said. The factory will build both Ford- and JMC-branded vehicles.
Ford plans to launch two new global products through Jiangling Motors. It plans to make a new Ford commercial vehicle and new Ford SUV, according to the automaker.
In addition, Ford and Jiangling Motors announced plans to build an engine plant with initial annual capacity of 200,000 units.
