With all the sporting Olympic talk in London, it is no surprise to hear of other groups holding sporting events in their unique way. Just outside London were this year’s Thirtieth Olympiad is taking place, Ford WRC drivers and co-drivers have been encouraging youth athleticism by participating in a traditional British elementary school sports day.
Drivers turned in their keys for a new set of tools that included a sack for a sack race, some rope for participating in a three-legged race, and the ever competitive and stressful egg and spoon race. At the end of the day it was Rally driver Peter Solberg who took home the title.
“It was a really fun day, but we’re all ultra-competitive guys and I think there were probably more tactics than on rallies! There was a little bit of cheating going on, although obviously not by me, and it was all in good spirit,” said a delighted Solberg.
After hearing his recent statement, the Official Old People Staring in Excitement (OOPSIE) board will be reviewing the replay footage to look for foul play and tactics.
