Ford Motor is recalling a total of about 700,000 vehicles due to a software glitch that could prevent airbags from immediately deploying and for faulty door handles, reports The Detroit News.

The automaker is recalling nearly 692,500 2013-14 Ford Escape and C-MAX vehicles for a software glitch that could delay the deployment of the safety canopy in certain rollovers.

The recall includes 591,000 are in the United States, 78,000 are in Canada and 19,500 in Mexico. The vehicles were built between October 2011 and Feb. 14, 2014, at the Louisville Assembly Plant and some 2013-2014 C-MAX vehicles built at Michigan Assembly Plant from January 2012 through February 2014.

Also, Ford is recalling 692,700 2013-14 Ford Escape SUVs because exterior door handles could open while the car is moving and fail to latch properly. The problem could result in a door that is difficult to close.

All of the Escapes in the first recall are part of the second recall, which includes 580,000 vehicles in the U.S., 89,500 in Canada and 20,000 in Mexico.
