Ford Motor said it will shut down Michigan Assembly Plant for two weeks later this year because of excess inventory levels on two small cars, reports The Detroit News.

The automaker has scheduled down time for the weeks of Oct. 28 and Dec. 16 at the Wayne, Mich. Plant.

According to Ford, two vehicles — a gas-powered Focus compact car and a hybrid C-Max compact crossover — have inventory levels that exceed the industry average of about 60 days. In the case of the C-Max, inventory levels are more than double the 60-day average.

The 5,000-or-so plant workers will get most of their pay during the layoff.
