Ford is planning to invest $500 million at its Lima Engine Plant in Ohio to develop a new engine for the 2015 F-150 pickup, reports The Detroit Free Press.

The investment will create 300 jobs. The automaker wants to create the new 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine. It involves renovating 700,000 square feet to machine and build the engines.

The engine was designed to include start-stop technology that saves fuel because it turns off when the engine is idled except when towing or in four-wheel drive mode. The engine restarts when the brake is released.
