The original due date for a full market release of Ford’s fully electric Focus EV was later this year. That has apparently changed as according to David Finnegan, Ford’s electric vehicle marketing manager, the full release will be pushed back a couple of months and should take place spring 2012. Ford’s initial full release date was set for late 2011, but as of now, only California and New York will receive the first run Focus EV.
Finnegan divulged into the delayed release date on FocusElectric.com’s forums. “For the first few months of production, we will be concentrating on California and New York. Our dealers in those areas will be the first to have their retail orders scheduled and receive the Focus electric. We will be rolling out to the remainder of our initial markets starting in spring 2012.”
More evidence can be found in Ford’s new campaign for the Focus EV which states, “Coming Spring 2012.” An exact release date has yet to be issued for the 2012 Focus Electric.
