Not too long ago, Ford revealed that for the first time in a long time the six cylinder F-150 pickups were out selling the V8 models. The catch to that statistic is the 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque 3.5 liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6. This special six can out haul and out accelerate the 5.0 liter V8 and thus, the trucks are selling like hotcakes. This is enough of a reason for Ford to jump up the production output of the turbo F-150s.

According to an Automotive News report, Ford has sold nearly 75,000 EcoBoost trucks through October 13. The engine option has only been available since February, so the sales have been fastly growing each month. Ford plans to hit over 100,000 units before the 2011 year is over. By the end of the fourth quarter, the company hopes to comprise nearly 45 percent of F-150 supplies with EcoBoost engines. Sadly, due to the increase in want, the price of the turbo has increased but just ever so slightly. Compared to the naturally aspirated V8, the boosted V6 is now $895 extra.
