The new 2013 Ford Focus ST has been making the review rounds, and initial impressions are extremely positive. Fresh off the wave of good news, Ford has just announced that its smaller sibling, the Fiesta ST will be making its way to North America for the 2014 model year.
This new even smaller hot hatch will be powered by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine making 197 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque. To top it off, Ford expects EPA ratings of 34 mpg highway. That is nearly identical to the power ouput of the GTI, but the Fiesta will be about 500 lbs lighter. Combined that with the revised and lowered suspension of the new ST and Ford looks to have another barn-storming hatch on its hands. And yes, we said hatch. Like its larger sibling, the Fiesta ST will only be sold in hatch body style. That body has seen some enhancements like new 17-inch wheels, an aggressive body kit and an available Molten Orange exterior paint. Because race car.
One final note about this cool little car, its comes exclusively with three pedals, as it should be. The manual only drivetrain could pose a problem for some buyers, but we recommend just learning how to drive a proper car. You will thank us later.
