Not exclusive to the United States, Ford Motor Company is now even more global by expanding its operations in Russia. Recently, the blue oval announced an agreement with Russian auto maker Sollers OJSC to a 50-50-owned joint venture. Sollers has distributed Ford vehicles in the past and with this venture, new Ford vehicles, like the Transit, will find their way onto Russian soil.
Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe, and Vadim Shvetsov, general director of Sollers were the final signers of the agreement. “This is an historic day for the Ford brand in Russia. “Together with our friends and partners at Sollers, we have established the new Ford Sollers business with the clear objective of providing our customers with more Ford products and increased service in the Russian market,” said Odell.
The new venture has been given the name Ford Sollers and its operations are scheduled to begin later this year.
