Nissan’s latest generation Maxima debuted to a huge wave of support thanks to its aggressive new design, promise of much improved driving dynamics, and improved overall quality. Now that new car is getting ready to head dealerships around the country as the first Maxima just rolled off the assembly line in Smyrna, Tennessee. As a Tennessee native, it makes me proud to be able to write about such a great milestone.
According to Nissan, the Smyrna plant has been producing the Maxima since 2004, and the factory has built nearly 800,000 units since then. Nissan appears to have a real winner on its hands with this new car, and they have put a lot of time and effort into making sure they get it right. You can watch this cool video to see some great behind-the-scenes stuff regarding how the car was engineered to perform like a sports car in a four-door suit.
