Edo Competition, a German aftermarket outfit that specializes in all types of high-end performance cars, has decided to say goodbye to a legend in a very special way. With the next generation BMW M5 ready to hit showroom floors with its twin-turbocharged V8, the outgoing model might be the last V10 powered factory BMW for a while. It order to give it a proper curtain, Edo Competition have released a special performance package that realistic power and style. The only catch: their demo car is a station wagon.

Riding on the euro-only M5 Estate, the Edo Competition M5 Dark Edition packs an extra 55 horsepower and 30 lb-ft of torque over the stock M5’s figures. That means that their blacker-than-black station wagon produces 555 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque from a lightly modified 5.0 liter V10. The improvements came by way of new catalytic converters, air filters and exhaust plus a tweaked ECU. Performance figures have improved as the Dark Edition hits 62 mph a half second faster than stock at 4.2 seconds. It will also rocket you and your three kids to a staggering 190 mph.

The demo car, which includes everything offered by Edo Competition, sets off the already handsome M5 Estate with a new aero kit, bigger wheels and a reworked interior. New bumpers add a subtle hint of extra aggression and the black wheels alongside the tinted windows give the Dark Edition an aura of mystery. The Edo Competition M5 will surely raise the question, “what’s in that station wagon?”
