The folks at Dodge are letting their Mopar friends do something a little special for a few lucky Dodge Darts in 2013. A very limited production run of 500 Darts will get some selected Mopar goodies that not only add exclusivity, but speed, handling, and handsome looks.
The Mopar Dodge Dart is still powered by the same 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four, but gets a performance exhaust, slotted rotors sitting behind upgraded 18-inch wheels rapped in 40-series tires, a front-chin spoiler and revised rear spoiler, blue racing stripes, and Mopar badging.
Power is routed through a 6-speed manual transmission to the front tires. The suspension sits 7-millimeters lower and the steering calibration has been revised.
Inside, the Mopar Dart gets an industry-first wireless smartphone charger, along with a custom-wrapped blue leather driver’s seat that contrasts with the other black leather seats. The Mopar Blue continues into the stitching on the steering wheel and shifter knob. Bright sport pedals and door-sill guards give the interior a little zing, all rounded out by the standard 8.4-inch navigation screen.
Icing on the cake for owners will be the serialized badge on the dash notating the “of 500” number of their Dart. They’ll also be treated to a personalized owner kit containing a vehicle specification plate with the date of manufacture and “of 500” number, along with memorabilia including a limited-edition sketch of the Mopar Dart signed by Mark Trostle, Mopar’s chief designer.
