Dodge just announced that it was bringing Go Mango orange back to the lineup for Mopar fans buying new SRT versions of the Challenger and Charger. Well, it seems that after some surprising demand, Dodge is going to open the paint up to even more models. The color just went on sale earlier this month, but since orders opened, Dodge has said that nearly half of all SRT and Hellcat orders have included the burnt hue as an option.
Since the color is so popular, starting later this spring, all Charger and Challenger models will be available with the new paint option, not just the high-powered SRT machines.
In some ways, I think this is great. I hate cars that are black, white, beige and gray. I want red cars, blue ones, obnoxiously fluorescent green, and even orange. I love seeing bright and interesting colors on cars, and I am happy that Dodge is making that happen.
That said, when you introduce a color as a special option for a high-end model, and then suddenly let anyone have it, it sort of steals the impact it might have had. Before, I knew that every single Go Mango car I saw on the streets had the heart of monster living in it, but not a rental fleet castoff can come equipped with the same citrus-colored paint scheme.
Despite my misgivings, if you want to order a new Charger or Challenger with Go Mango orange paint, you can do that in a few weeks.
