We finally have our first real look at what the revival of the Datsun name means for Nissan. Today at the 12th Deli Expo, Nissan pulled the wraps of the Datsun redi-Go Concept.
Designed as a mix of hatchback practicality with SUV styling cues, the redi-GO has been created as a new car for developing markets like India.
Datsun appears to be targeting the intersection of funky and practical. Shiro Nakamura, SVP and Chief Creative Officer stated the same idea when he said, “Although Datsun redi-GO CONCEPT is just that – a concept – it shows clearly the way we are thinking. It’s an ambitious styling exploration but, being a Datsun, it is a logical design, too.”
While this car will never be sold in the States, it gives us a look at where Nissan may be taking the Datsun brand and it gives us valuable clues for how they may attempt to renter the US someday.
