Consumer reports loves to create lists that make their expansive collection of data more digestible In honor of the Presidential Election, we decided to share with you Consumer Reports’ top 10 most reliable american vehicles. GM dominates the list with Chevrolet in particular taking home high honors. All categories but two belong to GM vehicles with Chevy holding 4 spots and sharing fifth.
The cars are listed below based on market segment.
Small cars: Chevrolet Sonic
Fuel-efficient hatchbacks: Chevrolet Volt
Compact sports sedans: Cadillac CTS
Upscale cars: Chrysler 300 V6
Sporty cars: Ford Mustang V6
Large SUVs: Chevrolet Traverse
Midsized SUVs: Chevrolet Equinox V6 & GMC Terrain V6
Luxury SUVs: Buick Enclave
Full-sized pickups: Chevrolet Avalanche
The list is not a conclusive collection as it only includes models that have received a “recommended” rating from Consumer Reports. This means models that have better than average reliability like the Lincoln MKS, don’t make the list. To be selected, the cars in question must have also “adequately” performed in crash-testing.
