Earlier in the week, Chrysler Group LLC put together a little survey. Using social media outlets, Twitter and Facebook, they asked the community to share their opinion and pick what they prefer: the manual or automatic transmission. By way of a 4:1 margin, the people proclaimed that do-it-yourself shifting is prefered compared to the automatic.
Chrysler asked the public to not only vote but to also add in their reasoning. The majority of the rational behind the manual transmission being better steams from enjoyment. The driving experience is much more emphasised with three pedals and drivers said they felt more in control. For example, one user left a ‘tweet’ on Chrysler’s twitter page: ” It forces you to be more in control of the car and connected to it. It makes you an active driver rather than passive.” One Viper owner even mentioned that the manual transmission added to the aural experience. “And the Corsa exhaust system on my Viper (’97 GTS) turned it into a musical instrument. Couldn’t “play those tunes” with an auto.”
