Chrysler Group LLC announced that they will be issuing a $114 million investment into its Trenton Engine Complex. The complex will produce core components for Chrysler’s new Pentastar V6 which is being built at the Trenton South Plant. This boost is estimated to create 268 new jobs and also breathe life into the once defunct Trenton North Plant where the engine complex is located.

“As Chrysler Group moves to replace seven V-6 engines with the new Pentastar V-6, it has become necessary to add capacity on core components in order to meet the production demands of this new engine,” said Brian Harlow, Vice President and Head of Powertrain Manufacturing. Since the Pentastar is now found in 10 Chrysler vehicles, it only makes sense that the Trenton South Plant could use all the help it can get. Factory operations ceased in May 2011 and with this investment, they can begin once again. It also brings the total Chrysler LLC investments up to $3.2 billion.
