Chevrolet helped Chicago-area residents raise nearly $105,000 for breast cancer research and community programs. The recent events were part of the Illinois Chevy: Your Mission. Our Drive. initiative that provides Chevrolet vehicles to support community programs.
The Illinois program is an example of the brand’s national efforts to connect with customers and communities.
In Chicago, Chevrolet supported the mission of more than 40 members of the Pink Wings Team who joined the fight against breast cancer. For the team’s entry in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Walk, Chevrolet provided two Express vans to carry water and other supplies, as well as providing walkers with a break when necessary. The Pink Wings team raised nearly $85,000 – the most by any team in the Chicago-area event.
Chevrolet also backed the Heart of Illinois United Way’s mission support community initiatives by providing 22 vehicles to support the first “Gen U Mad Dash” event. Teams in the Peoria-based fundraiser drove the fleet of Chevrolets in the competitive adventure and community project, which is expected to raise nearly $20,000 to benefit the Heart of Illinois United Way’s 2010 campaign.
The Illinois Chevy: Your Mission. Our Drive. program is expected to support 25 missions in 2010, each contributing to community engagement and supporting worthwhile charities and causes. Each mission also provides consumers an engaging opportunity to experience new Chevrolet vehicles.
Nationwide, Chevrolet is hosting programs that connect with customers and local communities – from helping beach cleanups in California to hosting baby showers for expectant military moms in Florida.
