April is Earth Month and with some help from the Wyland Foundation, Toyota is looking to embrace all thirty days accordingly. Since 2009, the two companies have been working together to support environmental sustainability and for this year, they will be expanding once again. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, Wyland will be working with the EPA to organize and host the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. The goal of the campaign is to get mayors to encourage their residents to take a free, online pledge to save water. To keep things a little interesting, participants will be eligible to win various prizes and Toyota will be supplying one of the big ones: a 2012 Prius c.
“Both Toyota and the Wyland Foundation are passionate about educating and inspiring people of all ages about the importance of environmental stewardship. We hope that the possibility of winning a new Prius c Hybrid vehicle will motivate even more people to get involved,” said Michael Rouse, vice president of philanthropy and community affairs for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Created in 1993 by an environmental artist known simply as Wyland, the Wyland Foundation is a non-profit organization that teaches students nationwide the importance of conserving the Earth. For that reason, Toyota has been working with the foundation to encourage the use of environmentally friendly products each and every day. With 53 mpg, partial zero emissions, and a ultra-low carbon footprint, the Prius c is one vehicle that could actually make the world a cleaner place.
