Cadillac’s new CTS-V is a Corvette-powered monster, and it will be priced accordingly. GM just announced that the new super sedan will hit showrooms this summer with a price tag that starts at $83,995. That may seem to be a pretty steep hike over the old CTS-V, but the new car comes with the all-new LT4 Supercharge V8 engine that makes 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. That price also still keeps it below its competitors from BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
While the old car was offered in a choice of body style and drivetrain options, the latest generation CTS-V comes only as a sedan, and its only going to be sold with the new 8-speed automatic. That may be sad news for those of us that like to row our own gears, but the automatic has proven to be faster than the manual, and luxury buyers tend to prefer the auto, so it makes sense. Cadillac is quoting that 60 mph will appear from a dead stop in just 3.7 seconds, and if you keep your foot buried long enough, the car should hit the magic 200 mph mark.
This is going to be a good summer for a few lucky buyers.
