Later this fall, anyone looking for an efficient luxury car that doubles as a stop light sleeper will have to look no further than their local Buick dealer. Ready to hit the streets is the recently invigorated 2013 Verano Turbo that should be a serious contestant for the likes of the Acura TSX, Lexus IS250 and VW Jetta GLI. Packing 250 SAE-Certified horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, the front drive sedan will sprint to 60 mph in an impressive 6.2 seconds. Unlike some of its competitors, the Buick will be available with a clutch pedal and will go for a price starting under $30 grand.
“The new Verano Turbo increases the performance of an already capable luxury sedan while continuing to offer customers the smart, purposeful technology they expect,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing. Base MSRP for the Verano Turbo will begin at $29,990. Standard features include a 9-speaker Bose stereo, leather upholstery, push button start, backup camera, blind spot and cross traffic alert, and heated front seats and steering wheel. Extra cost options will be available such as navigation and a power sunroof. Given that the Turbo is about $3,000 extra compared to the top-tier, Leather Group 2.4 Verano, the extra output comes at a reasonable cost. Cutting acceleration times by seconds all while dropping one mpg from both EPA ratings is fantastic enough that we will gladly wait for the autumn months to sample the Verano the way it should have been.
