Bentley has been known to make over-the-top automobiles that exude luxury, performance, and even perhaps a small hint of wealth. Their latest offering is no exception. The 2014 Flying Spur joins the Bentley stable as a four-door sedan sporting a twin-turbo W-12 making ridiculous horsepower and achieving stellar performance for a four-door saloon.

The Flying Spur receives some fairly substantial improvements for 2014. One such being a reworked engine management system that makes the most from Bentley’s venerable 6.0-liter, twin-turbo, 48-valve beast. The W-12 makes 616 bhp at 6,000 rpms and 580 lb-ft at a low 2,000 rpms. All that grunt pushes the sedan from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds on its way to a 200 mph top speed. A new ZF eight-speed automatic transmission channels the power to all four wheels.

Nearly 600 new parts reside in the redesigned interior. Only the sun visors, grab handles, armrests, and a few buttons are carried over from the previous car. Included is the Bentley Connectivity Unit, which connects your portable devises like laptops, iPads, and iPhones to the built-in Wi-Fi. Rear passengers are treated to two 10-inch LCD screens embedded in the front seatbacks capable of playing DVDs, SD cards, USB, and HDMI devices.

With 17 standard exterior paint colors, over 100 extra-cost colors, and four different wheel options, Bentley makes the Flying Spur fairly easy to customize. Not often can a new car be ordered with 21-inch wheels and paint the color of a rare purple diamond.

The Flying Spur will go on sale Fall 2013. Pricing hasn’t been released, but we’re estimating a starting price of $195,000.
