Audi is upping the ante within the sports compact market with their all-new 2014 A3. Slated for Europe as a 2014 model, the A3 won’t be seen stateside until the 2015 model year, but it will likely be worth the wait.
Audi spent a lot of time working on the exterior design, making curves and creases that play with light that gives a fast moving appearance. Under the hood are three available inline four cylinders: a 140-hp and184-lb-ft. 1.4-liter; a 180-hp and 184-lb-ft. 1.8-liter; and a 150-hp and 236-lb-ft. 2.0-liter TDI diesel. 0-62 mph times will range from 7.3 seconds to 8.7 seconds.
Although those times might not be overly impressive, fuel consumption is. The 1.8-liter is expected to return 42 mpg while the 1.4-liter is expected to get 50 mpg. Leave it to the TDI to bring the big mpg numbers – it’s expected to get 57 miles per gallon. Projected numbers are based on the combined European cycle.
The interior of the A3 is all Audi. The design is smart, simple, and functional. Audi’s infotainment system includes an updated MMI system the displays information in 3D. Check out the video from Audi below for more information.
