The sales figures for the all mighty automobile for the month of April were released not too long ago. For total sales, every segment was up except the large and luxury SUV which went down 17 and .7 percent respectively since April 2010. The midsized SUV hit a home run with a 61.6 percent increase since last year.
On the top 20 list for all automobiles, the Ford F-Series pickup took top honors once again with 45,435 units sold in April. 15,000 units behind was the second place Toyota Camry. 10 out of the 20 vehicles were American while just one was European: the Volkswagen Jetta with 16,955 units sold.
For manufactures, the General claimed top honor with a total of 232,538 GM vehicles sold. The Blue Oval was number two with 189,284 Ford vehicles sold. The three and four spot belong to the big dogs from Japan, Toyota and Honda. Toyota sold 159,540 vehicles in the United States while Honda unloaded 124,799. Breathing down the necks of the Japanese is Chrysler and their rebirth. At a total of 117,225 units sold in April, Chrysler looks to take back what was once theirs. At the bottom was Maybach who only managed to sell three cars in America during April. In all honesty, they probably don’t care.
