What better way to aid the release of your new supercar than to release a GT3 racecar with it? Acura has decided to do just that with the new NSX. Using technology similar to the Porsche 918, we don’t expect to be disappointed when the GT3 car hits the track. On the outside it appears that the GT3 car won’t be changed much from the street car, right down to the engine from the normal production NSX. We do expect there to be some limiting of horsepower from the street car to keep the class competitive, but we are not sure how that new power output will be.
Of course the racecar will have aerodynamic changes like the large rear wing and diffuser, front splitter, and various other bits and pieces to help aid the ultimate pursuit of speed. Then we have the interior that is completely gutted and filled with carbon fiber and a roll cage in the name of weight savings and safety.
Both the Japanese and American engineers are working hard on the project to build a competitive car and we expect to see it debuted late this fall. Even with the 2016 season in full swing, the 2017 season is already shaping up to be a great one and AutoTalk.com will be providing you as much coverage as possible from the races.
