The Impreza for people who like jumping over stuff is getting rather close to its red carpet (i.e. the street) debut. When it hits dealerships later this fall, the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek will come with two transmissions and thus, two base prices. For people who prefer to do their own shifting via a clutch and a gear knob, the five speed manual XV will start at $22,790. For those who live in traffic heavy areas or who simply couldn’t be bothered, a Crosstrek can be made with the CVT automatic for $23,790.
According to Car and Driver, there will be two trim levels at first. The base XV will be called the Premium and can be fitted with either transmissions. For a little extra class, the $25,290 Limited can be purchased but that offering will only be available with the CVT. Fitted to all Crosstreks will be the new generation Subaru Boxer engine which displaces 2.0 liters and pumps out 148 horsepower. In automatic mode, up to 33 mpg on the highway can be had which is impressive considering the XV will be an ACTUAL Subaru and carry standard all wheel drive.
