The R8 is equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 that churns out 420 horses and 317 pound-feet of torque. The R8 goes from zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 187 mph.
The new optional light package bathes the engine compartment in LED light, which draws attention to the eight-cylinder unit through the clear glass “bonnet.” The car also has 210 exterior LED lights. The German automaker did not announce pricing on the package yet, but said the four-wheel-drive R8 will start in Europe at around $150,000.
Audi said it started taking deposits for the R8 after its world debut in Paris in late September and said, “These have already accounted for all right-hand-drive production slots allocated through to mid-2008.”
