Volkswagen Group of America today announced that the 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI was named a 2010 Top 10 Road Trip Car by Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, the Trusted Resource® for new car and used car information.
The only TDI Clean Diesel European sportwagon, Jetta Sportwagen TDI boasts 44 mpg and is fun to drive with its sporty handling and updated design. It is TDI efficiency with a backpack.
Editors chose the Jetta Sportwagen TDI as the vehicle of choice for the Burning Man road trip at The Playa, Black Rock City, Nevada. The Burning Man event attracts nearly 50,000 people between August 30 and September 6 to a thriving metropolis in the middle of the Nevada desert.
“Driving through the wastelands of Nevada in search of a dry lakebed just 120 miles North of Reno, you want a car that’s comfortable, has tons of cargo room and is friendly to the planet, like the Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen TDI,” the editors wrote. “Not only does it have enough room for a week’s worth of Burning Man necessities, it also features a clean-burning and fuel-efficient turbo-diesel engine that delivers 41 miles per gallon on the highway. Plus on those 107-degree days when your tent fails to protect you from the grueling hot sun, you can crawl in back for shade and shelter.”
”This accolade demonstrates that Volkswagen’s TDI engines are not just fuel-efficient – they are also fun to drive,” Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO Volkswagen Group of American said. “We are proud to have been chosen for a quintessential American road trip by the esteemed editors at Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com – further evidence of how Volkswagen is truly at home in America.”
