Audi has introduced a new mobile portal that can be reached by users via any Internet-capable cell phone on http://m.audi.de. With more than two million visitors per month, audi.de, the German homepage of the company, is one of the most-used websites of a carmaker. The new portal now gives customers and prospective buyers direct access to extensive information about the brand. Fans of the brand with the four rings will find a series of gadgets and games.
The mobile Internet has experienced an unprecedented boom during the last year.
One survey showed that one out of every 10 Internet users in Germany currently uses their Internet-capable cell phone to go online. AUDI AG is responding to the needs of these customers with their new mobile portal, thereby confirming the company’s “Vorsprung durch Technik” in this area as well.
The new portal at http://m.audi.de features a highly user-friendly interface that outperforms those of competitors: with just a few clicks, the Smartphone user can access detailed information about all Audi car models and the entire range of available engines. With continuous updates, the brand with the four rings ensures that users can always access the latest data. “The mobile website is a long-term commitment for us, and it will be continuously expanded with new content,” said Lothar Korn, Head of Marketing Communications at Audi.
One of the portal’s many attractive applications is the mobile version of Audi tv, the brand’s Internet television channel already accessed by 250,000 viewers each month. Via the aplication “Audi Experience”, portal users can play the new “Audi A1 Beat Driver” game, which can be downloaded as an iPhone app. The “Audi glossary” explains all of the technical jargon used to talk about Audi car models, and Audi fans can keep up with the latest brand happenings with the “Calendar of events” feature. A “Dealership search” and a “Model finder” perfect the services offered by the portal. New content and applications will be added almost every week. As one additional feature, AUDI AG will soon provide mobile access to the Audi Used Car Locator at http://m.audi.de.
According to Bettina Rühle, Project Manager for the mobile website, the German website is serving as a prototype of sorts in this case. “During the course of the year, we will internationalize the website and begin offering our mobile portal in other countries as well,” she said.
