50 years ago, in 1966, Ford won Le Mans with the GT40, beating the dominant Ferrari cars. Most of you will know the story, Ford getting angry at Ferrari because they rejected a deal that would allow Ford to purchase them, so they went and beat Ferrari at their own game. Now in 2016, Ford has done it again, coming to Le Mans with the all-new GT and beating Ferrari in the first year they ran the car.

To celebrate these historic victories, the all-new 2017 Ford GT will be available in a limited ’66 Heritage Edition livery honoring the GT40 Mark II that was driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at Le Mans in 1966. The car will showcase a Shadow Black exterior, either gloss or matte, with silver stripes and exposed carbon fiber. Along with this will be #2 graphics on the door and hood, the number of the ’66 car.

Ford GT 66 Heritage Edition (8)

On the inside, you’ll find Ebony leather carbon fiber seats, the Ford GT logo on the head restraints and steering wheel, gold appliques on the instrument panel, X-brace and shift paddles, as well as blue webbing on the Ebony leather steering wheel. To feel extra special, each car will get a serialized identification plate, #2 interior door graphics, and lots of matte carbon fiber trim. If you’ve got the money, you can pick one up at your local Ford dealer, I’m sure. If not, you can just configure one at FordGT.com.
