The Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet’s highest selling car across the globe, and the all-new 2016 model should rack up even more sales. The Cruze now offers the highest EPA-estimated fuel mileage among its competitors like the Focus, Mazda 3, Elantra, and Jetta, coming in at 42 mpg highway. Thanks to that impressive gas mileage, the Cruze now has a max range of up to 570 miles per tank. Not every model scores that magnificent 42 mpg number. The estimation is good for the L, LS, and LT models, but the top RS model comes in at 40 mpg highway.
The fuel economy boost is thanks to a new turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder with direct-injection and a diet that shed 250 pounds from the old machine. Chevrolet also uses stop/start technology to bump city mileage up to 30 mpg. Amid all the efficiency increases, safety was still a prority for designers. You will find ten air bags as standard and a slew of optional crash-avoidance goodies like Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Alert. Chevy also loves to point out its dedication to technology with features like built-in 4g LTE WiFi, and support for both Android Auto and Apple Car Play.
Beyond the engine and equipment changes, the Cruze gets some suspension tweaks for a better ride, and the new body features design changes to optimize for aerodynamics. If the 2016 Cruze still isn’t good enough for you, the hatchback and diesels make their debut early next year.
