The 50th Annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab is coming up fast, and Jeep is dropping seven stunning new concept vehicles in the middle of the mayhem. Jeep teased two of the seven new concepts a few days ago, but now we have all the details, and a few photos, of what will be tearing up the trails in Moab. We have broken them down for you so you can get take a peek at the new machines, but we have full overviews coming for each one as well. Jeep Crew Chief 715 – Jeep has taken last year’s Wrangler Unlimited Chief concept, lopped off the roof, added a convertible top, a military-inspired bed and massive bead lock wheels wrapped with military tires, all finished in Tactical Green paint. It’s hard to believe they could improve on the original Chief concept, but they did.
Jeep Renegade Commander – Featuring a catalog of Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts, the Fluorescent Gray Commander has been modified to enhance its off-road prowess.
Jeep FC 150 – Take a 1960 Jeep FC 150, drop it onto a 2005 Wrangler chassis and hang a bunch of excellent, trail-tested off road bits on it. Don’t bother painting it, since it has a 56 years of experience etched into its skin, and call it a day. What do you get? One of the coolest retromod off-road vehicles known to man.
Jeep Trailcat – You knew this had to happen, didn’t you? Stretch a Wrangler by 12 inches and jam a 707-horsepower Hellcat engine between the fender wells. Chop down the windshield and add a bunch of other stuff that nobody will notice once they feast their eyes on that lump under the hood. It’s overkill at its very best.
Jeep Comanche – This “Beige Against the Machine” Renegade-based truck has enough pickup bed room to haul most of your weekend project supplies to that cabin you’re building way up on the mountain. The grunt of a 2.0 liter diesel 4-cylinder, low range gearing and locking differential will make sure you don’t get stuck in the mud.
Jeep Shortcut – A Wrangler with the proportions and simplicity of a CJ-5? Yes, please. It’s nothing fancy, and that’s just the way a lot of hardcore Jeep enthusiasts like it.
Jeep Trailstorm – Last, but not least, the Trailstorm is Jeep’s idea of the ultimate off-road Wrangler. 17-inch wheels with 37-inch tires, Dana 44 axles front and rear, half doors and a hose-it-down interior are just a small part of the laundry list of rock busting modifications done to this digital camo-clad beast.
All of this mighty metal will make its public debut March 19-27 as thousands of off-road enthusiasts mass in Moab to tear up some trails.
