Some 47,000 Ford Motor hourly workers in the United States will receive bonus checks totaling more than $413 million in March based on the automaker’s performance in the North American market last year, reports The Detroit News.

The per-worker payout of $8,800 tops last year’s record of $8,300.

Ford earned a pre-tax profit of $8.8 billion in North America in 2013, led by strong sales of its highly profitable F-Series pickups, its Fusion midsize sedan and its Escape compact crossover.

Based on automakers’ anticipated earnings for the year, industry analysts believe more than $800 million in profit-sharing checks will go out to about 130,000 workers.
