Chrysler is recalling more than 270 2013 Fiat 500e battery-electric vehicles to fix bolts securing the vehicles’ half shafts, reports The Detroit News.
The recall affects about 270 retail customers. The company said it was unaware of any related accidents or injuries.
The issue is unrelated to the 500e’s electric power train, the company said. Half shafts transfer torque from a vehicle’s gearbox to its wheels, the newspaper reported.
Chrysler is contacting customers and they will receive free rental vehicles while their vehicles are being repaired. Repairs will be performed at no cost to customers, according to the news report.
The automaker said it will advise the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) when the exact recall population is determined.
