Detroit Diesel Corp., a member of the Daimler group, plans to invest up to $77.2 million at its Redford Township plant in Michigan, reports The Detroit News.
The investment will create 50 jobs and will enable the company to produce an asymmetric turbocharger as well as truck transmission assemblies.
Detroit Diesel is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines for the commercial truck market. The company received a $250,000 Business Development Program incentive by the Michigan Strategic Fund.
In addition, Redford Township already has offered a 12-year property tax abatement valued at $6.6 million.
